Survival preparedness is something that many people take for granted. Having an accessible emergency kit in your house is one of the best methods of survival preparedness. If you will need to evacuate your home and go to a safer place, you will want to make sure that you have all the essentials with you. The usual contents of an emergency kit include food and water. You may also choose to pack a water purifying glass or a tablet that will allow you to safely drink water from unsafe sources. Be sure to bring supplies that will also provide warmth, shelter and protection to your family�such as a lighter/matches, a tube tent and sleeping bags or hooded ponchos.
